Witness

Witness is the third stage of the Diocese of Crookston's Faith Formation framework and is designed to help older youth embrace their call to live as missionary disciples. Through small faith communities, prayer, catechesis, and meaningful service, young people deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ while discovering their unique gifts and vocation within the Church. As they grow in faith and actively participate in parish life and works of charity, Witness prepares them to confidently share the Gospel through the way they live, serve, and love others.

1. “What is a charism?”  
Resource: Passion & Purpose: Charisms for Teens  
Audience: Teens ages 14–20  
Length: Flexible / individual or group reading  
Purpose: Introduce teens to the 24 charisms, identity in Christ, hearing God in prayer, and how charisms help them discover their place and mission in the Church.

2. “I want to actually walk my teens through discovering their charisms.”  
Resource: Spirit Rising — High School Curriculum  
Audience: High school / youth ministry; teens ages 14–20  
Length: 5 core sessions + bonus session, with 18 small-group guides  
Purpose: A structured journey through identity in Christ, understanding charisms, discerning spiritual gifts, hearing God's voice, and ultimately committing to live their charisms.

3. “We've taken the assessment. Now what?”  
Resource: Guided Personal Charism Discernment  
Audience: Individuals who have already taken the assessment and want to discern their results more deeply  
Length: 60 days  
Purpose: Move from assessment results into actual discernment through daily readings, reflections, activities and check-ins.

4. “We know our charisms. How do we actually LIVE them?”  
Resource: The Essential Handbook on Living Your Charisms  
Audience: Catholics who have begun or completed charism discernment  
Length: Flexible / ongoing reference  
Purpose: Move beyond identifying charisms into testing, living and troubleshooting them.

5. “We want to go deeper as a group.”  
Resource: What You Carry — Group Study  
Audience: Small groups, faith formation groups, ministry groups; appropriate for mature high school and adults  
Length: 8 sessions  
Purpose: A deeper group study rooted in Church teaching, prayer and real-life application. It covers the theology of charisms, identity, choosing charisms to discern, gathering evidence, season and scope, hearing God's voice and making a commitment.

6. “We want to explore charisms through Scripture.”  
Resource: Animating the Body of Christ Bible Study  
Audience: Mature high school/college age and older  
Length: 4-part Series  
Purpose: Bible study focused on charisms and the Body of Christ.
