The Diocese of Crookston serves the people of God in northwest Minnesota, covering 14 counties and 65 parishes, and 8 Catholic schools. Under the leadership of Bishop Andrew H. Cozzens, we are a community of faith united in Christ, striving to live the Gospel and share it joyfully with others.
Our Vision In July 2024, Bishop Andrew Cozzens unveiled his first pastoral letter, New Life Through the Tender Compassion of Our God, concluding two years of prayerful, diocesan-wide discernment. The vision centers on three interwoven pillars:
Reviving the faith life of our people
Planning to use our resources well for mission
Evangelizing by inviting others to discover new life in Jesus Christ and His Church
These pillars inspire us to move beyond maintenance—to live vibrantly in the resurrection’s power, trusting that even where things seem most barren, new life springs up.
Entrusted to the care of Our Lady of Guadalupe, patroness of the Americas and the New Evangelization, this vision guides our journey of renewal.
History
The Catholic faith has deep roots in northwest Minnesota. Missionaries first brought the Gospel to this region in the 18th and 19th centuries. The Diocese of Crookston was formally established in 1909 to serve the growing Catholic population. Today, we continue that mission with gratitude for the sacrifices of those who came before us and with hope for the generations yet to come. CLICK HERE TO LEARN MORE
