Natural Family Planning follows God’s plan for fertility awareness within the sacrament of marriage. Many people, Catholics included, do not fully understand the Church’s teaching on marriage, the unique marital bond of the sexual act between husband and wife, and the blessing that they may receive when they “cooperate with God” in the creation of a new life.

The Crookston Diocese welcomes all couples to a free Natural Family Planning Introductory Session presented by Laura Golden, FCP and Sarah McKeown, CFCP. Here you will learn the Creighton model and will be provided with responsible parenthood instructions for achieving pregnancy, avoiding pregnancy, and monitoring fertility and cycles. Laura and Sarah will also provide you with real solutions to problems such as infertility, PMS, miscarriages, reproductive health concerns, and more! The Diocese of Crookston offers two NFP Methods, Creighton and Marquette. These methods are carried out differently, but both achieve the same end goal of Natural Family Planning. Feel free to learn which method will work best for you. If you need assistance in discerning which method will be best, please feel free to reach out to our NFP Team for their guidance.
The Diocese of Crookston offers free Creighton introductory sessions online and/or Marquette training for the price of $50 through our team. Our NFP Team can provide you with responsible parenthood instructions for achieving pregnancy, avoiding pregnancy, and monitoring fertility and cycles. These trainings will also provide you with real solutions to problems such as infertility, PMS, miscarriages, reproductive health concerns, and more!

What is the Creighton Method?The Creighton Model FertilityCare System (CrMS) is a natural family planning method that helps people understand their fertility and gynecological health. The CrMS relies upon the standardized observation and charting of biological markers that are essential to a woman’s health and fertility. These ‘biomarkers” tell the couple when they are naturally fertile and infertile, allowing the couple to use the system either to achieve or to avoid pregnancy. These biomarkers also telegraph abnormalities in a woman’s health. The CrMS allows a woman to unravel the mysteries of the menstrual cycle.

What is the Marquette Method?The Marquette Method of NFP utilizes the Clear Blue Fertility Monitor to track rising estrogen and LH urine hormones to accurately identify a woman's fertile window. Backed by recent research studies, this evidence based method taught by a Registered Nurse is effective for couples in both regular cycles and postpartum. This method provides clear and objective data for couples to use in their family planning discernment.
