Melchizedek Project discernment groups provide information and support for young men as they discern the possibility of a vocation to the priesthood. In the Diocese of Crookston, the first Melchizedek Project discernment group was formed in 2020 at the request of the men who attended the Esto Vir vocation camp that summer. The men desired the opportunity to gather throughout the year for fraternity, prayer, and to continue their discernment together.
Young men (high school students and young adults) gather once per month to discuss discernment and have a time of fellowship. At each meeting, we share a meal and discuass a chapter of the book To Save 1000 Souls. The book is a free gift to the men who participate in Melchizedek Project.
You do not need to be strongly considering priesthood to attend the group. You just need to be open to God's plan for your life and have a desire to learn some principles that will help you discern your vocation, whatever that may be.

Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM) Seminary hosts a Come and See Retreat Weekend experience in November and March of each year. The Office of Vocations makes arrangements for a group of young men from the Diocese of Crookston to attend the weekend along with Fr. Michael Arey and the diocesan seminarians who are currently in formation at IHM Seminary. Attendees join the seminarians for Mass, prayer, meals, classes and recreation. During the weekend, current IHM seminarians share their vocation stories, explaining how the Lord led them to seminary and what their call to consider the priesthood looks like. Priests on the seminary formation staff speak about discernment and seminary life. There is ample time for fraternity with the Diocese of Crookston seminarians. The group usually goes hiking in the beautiful bluffs of Winona and also takes a day trip to the Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
The weekend is an opportunity for men to experience seminary life for a weekend.

Esto Vir! is a vocation camp for young men entering their sophomore year of high school through young adulthood. This camp is an opportunity for those men who may be open to the priesthood to come together and spend some days in community with each other and the seminarians of the diocese. The camp includes games, lakeside recreation, Mass, prayer, food, and fellowship.
